orana wildlife park
Today we went to the Orana Wildlife Park just outside of Christchurch. They've got quite a number of different kinds of animals there, in mostly open habitats. It was fun to be able to feed a giraffe and see lions, tigers, cheetahs, rhinos, zebras, and many other animals. Being New Zealand, of course there is a kiwi exhibit but the two kiwi birds they had there were new to the enclosure and quite shy (more so than usual for kiwi birds, anyway). They came out for a few minutes, grabbed some food, and quickly hid again.
